Audrius Naujokaitis was a painter, photographer, muralist, filmmaker, journalist, but foremost - Audrius was unmistakably Audrius. He was passionate, turbulent, sweet of character.

Audrius Naujokaitis film Jonas Mekas. Life Is Just Beginning is a poetic celebration of Jonas Mekas and an ephemeral New York City. And, now, the film takes on a nostalgic sense, as well. Although it was filmed in the last millennium, only sixteen years ago, it almost feels like an artifact of an Ancient Somewhere.

Audrius layered painterly, interconnectedimages, re-creating the dizziness of New York busy-ness. The film is a portrait of Jonas Mekas. However, it is not an interview; it is, rather, observation of an old friend, going about his daily routines, walking, talking, grimacing, making fun of himself and others. Ingrained playfulness gives the film a timeless quality. While it is quite long, it lends itself to loop, without end, andpossibly even, without beginning.

DALIUS NAUJO-NAUJOKAITIS PERFORMANCE

ELECTRONICS, DRUMS, PERCUSSION, TROMBONE AND VOCAL. DURATION 45MIN. DEDICATED TO AUDRIUS

„Dalius Naujo is a genius percussionist who has lately moved into conducting and composing. He is not normal! He is totally possessed by his art, nothing else matters to him! The muses of music have made him lose his mind, he is moving ahead unpredictably and dangerously, as all poets do.“ – Jonas Mekas
