Sla307 is proud to present From Debesis Collection: the Collected Works of Juan Pablo Debesis.
Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Juan Pablo Debesis worked with the National Theater of Uruguay (SODRE). From 1971 - 1976 studies in Vilnius university, where he acquired his masters degree in Geomorphology. In 1976 he moved to New York City where he worked at Lectorum Publications for 30 years and eventually became manager of the bookstore. Since 2008 he is the administrator of the Lithuanian National Foundation, NY.
Juan Pablo Debesis’ collection consists of artwork collected over several decades, dating back to his first acquisition at the early age of 15. “From Debesis Collection” will not only represent one man’s admiration and passion for art but also represent the Lithuanian and South American artists he came in contact with over the years.

In presenting Debesis' collection, Sla307 hopes to honor both collector and artist and create an opportunity to reflect on the human compulsion to seek out and acquire what we believe to be beautiful.
