Sla307 Art Space is pleased to announce a painting exhibition by Sandra Koponen entitled Transmogrified Weather. This is Koponen's first solo exhibition in New York City. The opening reception is Friday, November 10 from 6-9pm. 

Sandra Koponen states: I start paintings haphazardly and come back to them in stages, applying the paint thickly and quickly. Similar to an ink blot, the forms are suggested, not readily apparent. They inspire a scene, painterly, not figurative. Weathered barns, old trucks and worn objects have always intrigued me, and the paintings look as though they too are worn over time, gaining the solidity and heft of an artifact. I want to stimulate a synesthetic reaction, triggering aural and tactile hallucinations.
Ideally a painting serves as a talisman into a dream world.
