Vyt Bakaitis, a native of Lithuania, has been an émigré since the age of four. By the time he graduated from Boston University in 1967, he had traveled on three continents. He’s lived in New York since 1968 and now splits his time between Brooklyn and Chicago. He has several books in print. His poems are in City Country (Black Thistle Press) and Deliberate Proof (Lunar Chandelier Press). The 20th-century Lithuanian poetry anthology he edited and translated is Gyvas atodūsis/Breathing Free (Spuyten Duyvil). Two books he translated from the Lithuanian poems of Jonas Mekas are There Is No Ithaca (Black Thistle Press) and Daybooks (Portable Press at YoYo Labs).
 
John Godfrey was born in 1945 in Massena, N.Y. By the age of 18 he had lived and schooled in Honolulu, Bennington, Vt., Albany, N.Y. and Dallas. He graduated from Princeton University in 1967. He received a B.S. in Nursing from Columbia University in 1994. He spent nine years as a visiting nurse in pediatric/maternal HIV/AIDS in north Brooklyn. Eight years as head nurse in a family care HIV/AIDS clinic at Kings County followed. He retired in 2011. Since 1971, 15 collections of his poems have been published. In 2016 Wave Books published The City Keeps: New and Selected Poems 1966-2014. He has lived in the East Village continuously since the 1960s.
